The Motorcycle Registration Renewal is mandatory for every motorcycle owner. According to LTO Guidelines, every motorcycle registration renewal is required annually. The LTO Authority is very strict about vehicle registration and renewal and student permit renewal.
When to Renew Motorcycle Registration
You need to renew your motorcycle registration on a yearly basis. To find out the exact month and week for renewal, you must check the last two digits of your motorcycle plate number and match those digits with the two informative tables that I am going to share here.

To find your motorcycle registration renewal week, consider the second last digit of your plate number and match it with the below table.

For Example: Your motorcycle plate number is NE33639, now we will focus on last two digits to find out the exact month and week when you need to renew your motorcycle registration.
- The Last Digit is 9 which matches with September month in the first table.
- The Second Last Digit is 3 which matches with First Week in the second table.
So, you are required to apply for your motorcycle registration renewal in the First Week of September every year. You can apply for it on any working day from September 1 to 7.
Registration Renewal in Advance
The Land Transportation Office allows the vehicle owners to renew their motorcycle registration in advance up to 60 days before the renewal is due. It means, if your motorcycle registration renewal is due in First Week of September, you can apply for motorcycle registration renewal in advance anytime from the first week of July to the last week of August.
LTO Motorcycle Registration Renewal Requirements
The LTO has set some specific documents as requirements for the Motorcycle registration renewal process. Before you apply, you must confirm that you have all the required documents for your motorcycle registration renewal.
Here I provide the list of LTO motorcycle registration renewal requirements as under.
- Original and Photocopy of Certificate of Registration (CR)
- Original and Photocopy of Official Receipt (OR) of Initial/Last Registration
- Compulsory Third Party Liability (CTPL) Insurance
- Duly Accomplished and Approved Motor Vehicle Inspection Report (MVIR)
- Recent Certificate of Emission Compliance (CEC) Issued by an LTO Accredited Private Emission Testing Center (PETC)
- Taxpayer’s Identification Number (TIN)
- A Valid Government Issued ID
If CR/OR is absent, A Notarized Affidavit of Loss of CR/OR is required as a mandatory document.
LTO Motorcycle Registration Renewal Fees
The LTO has set standard fees for Motorcycle Registration Renewal that every applicant must pay.
If you apply for renewal on time, you need to pay the registration renewal fee and other fees as per rules. But if you apply for renewal late then you must pay the renewal fee and other fees plus penalty for late renewal as charged by the LTO.

- Motor Vehicle User’s Charge (MVUC): ₱240 for Motorcycle without Sidecar
- Motor Vehicle User’s Charge (MVUC): ₱300 for Motorcycle with Sidecar
Other Fees
- Registration Renewal Fee: ₱400
- Vehicle Inspection Fee: ₱50 to ₱90
- Emission Testing Fee: ₱300 to ₱500
- Legal Research Fee: ₱10 to ₱20
- CTPL Insurance Premium: ₱250 to ₱400
- Computer Fee: ₱67

How to Apply for Motorcycle Registration Renewal
There are two methods available for LTO Motorcycle Registration Renewal in the Philippines, here are the details.
- Walk-In Application for Motorcycle Registration Renewal
- Online Application for Motorcycle Registration Renewal
The requirements remain the same in both the methods and the renewal fees also the same. Let me explain both the methods step-by-step to help you understand how you can renew your motorcycle registration easily.
Walk-In Application for Motorcycle Registration Renewal
#Step 1: Buy/Renew CTPL Insurance
First of all, you should buy or renew the Compulsory Third Party Liability (CTPL) Insurance for your motorcycle. You need an up-to-date CTPL Insurance Certificate to apply for motorcycle registration renewal to Land Transportation Office (LTO).
#Step 2: Obtain Certificate of Emission Compliance
Go to an LTO Accredited Private Emission Testing Center (PETC) and get your motorcycle checked for emission compliance. On completion of testing, the PETC will release the Certificate of Emission Compliance (CEC) for your motorcycle. It is a mandatory document for the registration renewal process.
#Step 3: Visit an LTO Office with Your Motorcycle
Gather all required documents and visit your nearest LTO Office with your motorcycle. It is recommended to visit the same LTO Office where you registered your motorcycle last time.
You must carry your motorcycle to the LTO Branch as the LTO personnel is going to inspect your motorcycle chassis number and other details as a part of registration renewal process.
#Step 4: Get Token and Stand in Queue
As you reach LTO Office, get a token and stand in a queue. It may take a few minutes to get your turn. Inform the LTO Personnel that you are here for your motorcycle registration renewal.
#Step 5: Submit Documents and Get Motorcycle Inspected
You should show and submit all required documents to the LTO Personnel and then follow their instructions. You should move towards the vehicle inspection section and hand over your motorcycle to respective engineer/expert.
The LTO Expert will do a thorough inspection on your motorcycle by checking its chassis number, engine condition, brakes, lights and other things. On completion of vehicle inspection test, the LTO expert will release a report called Motor Vehicle Inspection Report (MVIR) for your motorcycle.
#Step 6: Pay the Fees at Cashier Window
Wait for your name to be called out, then go to the Cashier Window and pay the motorcycle registration renewal fees with all applicable charges. You can pay in cash or debit/credit card as per payment methods offered by the cashier at LTO Office.
#Step 7: Obtain New OR and Finish
After submission of all documents and paying the fees, the cashier will issue a New OR (Official Receipt) as a proof of your motorcycle registration renewal is successful. Collect the OR and keep it safely, then leave the LTO Office as the renewal process is over.
Motorcycle Registration Renewal Application Online
Before you apply for motorcycle registration renewal online at LTMS Portal, make sure that you have purchased CTPL Insurance and obtained Certificate of Emission Compliance (CEC) for your motorcycle. Thereafter follow the steps given here.
- Go to LTMS Portal at portal.lto.gov.ph.
- Click on LOGIN to open login page.
- Enter your Registered Email and Password or your LTO Client Number and Password.
- Enter the Security Code and click on Sign-In button.
- After login, find and click on VEHICLE section.
- Select your motorcycle and click on Registration Renewal option.
- Enter required information like Emission Certificate Number, CTPL Insurance Certificate Number, Vehicle Inspection Report Number and other details.
- Upload required documents and click on Next/Continue.
- Pay the Fees Online and click on Proceed.
- Soon you will receive the New Official Receipt (OR) via email on your registered email.
- Print the Official Receipt and keep it at a safe place.
In this way, you can renew your motorcycle registration by walk-in application and also by online application.
What If My Motorcycle Fails in Emission Test?
The Land Transportation Office is very strict about vehicle condition to approve its registration renewal. If your motorcycle fails in the Emission Test, you cannot apply for its registration renewal.
You must get your motorcycle repaired and replace its old/damaged parts (if any) to bring it back to a good condition. You should also change oil in your motorcycle to keep it run smoothly and control the emission.
Once your motorcycle is in good condition, submit it at an LTO Accredited Private Emission Testing Center (PETC). As your motorcycle passes the emission test, then you can apply for LTO motorcycle registration renewal as per rules.
