The LTO Authority issues New Driver’s Licenses with different DL Codes based on applicant’s request. There are 9 different DL Codes available for the Driver’s License. These codes include DL Code A, A1, B, B1, B2, C, D, BE and CE codes.

List of Vehicles Allowed to Drive with DL Code B
The DL Code B covers vehicles including passenger car, UV, SUV, LSV and HSV vehicles. All of these are passenger carrying four-wheeler vehicles that you can drive with your driving license with DL Code B.
Here I provide the list of vehicles allowed to drive under DL Code B as under:
- Passenger Car
- Utility Vehicle (UV)
- Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV)
- Light Service Vehicle (LSV)
- Heavy Service Vehicle (HSV)
With DL Code B on your driver’s license, you can drive the vehicles mentioned in above list. Any other vehicle is not allowed with DL Code B, please keep that in mind.
Can You Drive a Motorcycle If Your License Bears DL Code B?
No, you cannot drive a motorcycle if your license bears DL Code B. Because the list of vehicles allowed under DL Code B does not contain motorcycle, it only allows passenger carriage vehicles that I have shared above.
So, you or anyone with DL Code B on their license cannot drive a motorcycle or any other two-wheeler or three-wheeler vehicle.
Which DL Code Allows to Drive a Motorcycle?
The LTO DL Code A allows the license holder to ride a motorcycle on the roads without any restriction.
The Driver’s License (DL) Code A covers both the Auto Transmission (AT) and Manual Transmission (MT) Motorcycle including two-wheeler vehicles with below 50 KPH Speed, exceeding 50 KPH Speed and three-wheeler vehicles with below 50 KPH Speed.
Can I Add DL Code A to My License with DL Code B?
Yes, you can add the DL Code A to your license with DL Code B. For that you are required to apply for additional DL Code to LTO (Land Transportation Office). You can apply for additional DL Code A Online at LTO Portal or visit your nearest LTO Office in-person.
Once your request is approved, the LTO will issue a New Driver’s License bearing both the DL Codes A and B. Thereafter you are legally allowed to drive a motorcycle on the roads of Philippines.
Conclusion:
The driver’s license bearing DL Code B does not allow you to drive a motorcycle. So, you cannot drive a motorcycle with a license having DL Code B. You must apply to get an additional code (DL Code A) to drive a motorcycle in a legal way.
Driving a motorcycle with a DL Code B License is illegal and it has serious consequences that I have shared above. In case you still have a query or doubt, feel free to ask in the comment section.
